We Launch Micro-Grants to Boost Digital Advocacy in Latin America

Published on 17 Dec 2025

Applications open from August 5 to 20!

We are opening the 2025 call for applications for our Digital Advocacy Micro-Grants Program, an initiative aimed at organizations, collectives, and civil society initiatives working to defend digital rights, freedom of expression, and civic participation in authoritarian digital environments.

This year, we will award two mini-grants of USD $1,000 each to support concrete public, political, or communications advocacy actions that can be implemented within a maximum period of three months.

We invite applications from organizations—with or without legal status—collectives, or citizen-led initiatives active in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, or Venezuela.

Proposals must be related to topics such as digital rights, independent journalism, freedom of expression, civic participation, online transparency, internet governance, combating disinformation, or monitoring power in digital environments.

Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate:

  • Previous impact in advocacy, coalition-building, or public visibility processes
  • Feasibility and relevance within the national context in which they will be implemented
  • Creativity and a strategic approach to promoting meaningful change

This micro-grant is designed to support rapid, creative, and low-cost advocacy initiatives that respond to threats or windows of opportunity. You may submit ideas such as:

  • Communication campaigns on social media, community media, or digital platforms
  • Cultural interventions that promote freedom of expression
  • Political advocacy targeting legislators, platforms, or public authorities
  • Coalition- and network-building strategies among organizations
  • Production of content documenting or denouncing authoritarian digital practices
  • Local events, forums, or workshops on digital rights

Each selected organization will receive USD $1,000 to implement a specific advocacy action. In addition, they will receive strategic support and technical mentorship from our team to strengthen both the proposal and its implementation.

Project results and lessons learned will be shared through our networks and partner platforms, expanding their reach and regional visibility.

To apply, simply complete the application form, where you will be asked for a brief description of your organization or initiative and a detailed explanation of your proposal.
